Het is bijna weer tijd voor The Game Awards. De show die gezien wordt als de Oscars maar dan voor videogames, zal op 12 december 2019 worden gehouden.
De genomineerden zijn recent onthuld en dit jaar domineert geen één uitgever. Vorige jaar was Sony ijzersterk met Marvel’s Spider-Man en God of War. De jaar daarvoor was Nintendo heel sterk met Zelda: Breath of the Wild en Super Mario Odyssey. Dit jaar zijn er geen absolute favorieten, alle Game of the Year-kandidaten kunnen met de prijs naar huis gaan.
De grootste prijs van de show is game van het jaar maar er zijn ook andere prijzen die uitgedeeld worden. Zo zijn er onder andere prijzen voor beste soundtrack, beste art direction en beste indiegame.
